At the work session, a festival representative (Speaker 5) said the group has used county shuttles in past years and will follow the same approach this year, placing the borrowed buses under the city’s insurance for the event’s duration. "We pick up at the Hampton Inn, the Holiday Inn and the Eagle parking lot," the representative said, and added that, after speaking with Rodney Willis, the organizers have added Yogi Bear Campground as a pickup stop.
The organizer said the event brought media attention last year and is currently entered in a USA Today contest; a film producer planning a documentary segment on the event was also mentioned. The representative asked commissioners to consider a donation similar to past support and thanked the board for previous assistance.
Commissioners did not take a vote at the session; the request will be placed on an upcoming agenda for a decision. Staff noted the county’s insurance arrangement for borrowed vehicles and the practical need to confirm pickup locations and staging plans before approval.
