Board approves series of contracts and grants: security, acoustical work, housing funds, design for monument and fairground event

Key approvals and votes at a glance
- ADHS workforce development amendment (Contract CTR064793): The board approved Amendment No. 2 to continue workforce development services under a contract with the Arizona Department of Health Services, not to exceed $456,893. Paula (community services/health) said the funds support training and retention for public health staff. Supervisor Klein moved approval; a second was recorded and the board voted aye.
- Weatherization funding agreement (Agreement 214-26): The board approved a $157,169 funding agreement with the Arizona Department of Housing to continue weatherization assistance through 09/30/2026. Paula noted this allocation will be supplemented if additional LIHEAP or other funds become available; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
- Acoustical panel installation at Tommy Klein Martin Complex (Contract 21PNSTA0415GC1): Joseph presented a plan to install additional acoustical panels (cost not to exceed $74,987.05) to reduce reverberation in the hearing room and improve recorded meetings and court audio. Supervisor Klein moved approval; the board approved the contract.
- Design services for Rally Around the Flags monument (Contract CTR076572GC3): The board approved design services with GH2 Architects (not to exceed $67,518) after Joseph said the original site became unavailable and the monument will be aligned with the Tommy Klein Martin Complex. Staff noted $33,085 donated by a veterans group and $15,000 in constituent funds that require re-approval; staff estimated a rough project order-of-magnitude of about $180,000 including sidewalks and optional items. Supervisor Humphrey moved approval; the board approved the contract.
- Armed guard services (Contract CTR068378GC1): Amber presented an armed security services contract with American Guard Services Inc., not to exceed $462,375 for the term 10/04/2025–10/31/2026; courts will fund the service. Supervisor Klein moved approval and the board approved the contract.
- Economic development agreement for Arizona High School Rodeo (Agreement 2026-0148): The board approved an agreement to host the Arizona High School Rodeo at the Gila County Fairgrounds in March 2026. Amber said the rodeo toured the facility and staff will meet with a contractor to address ground/dirt concerns; the board approved the agreement.
Several items were taken on the consent agenda and approved in a single roll. Supervisors commended staff for leveraging grants and donations to stretch county funds.
What’s next: Staff will process contracts and bring any required confirmations or supplemental budget requests back to the board as needed.
