Richmond County staff to revise manufactured-home ordinance before public hearing

The board discussed whether to schedule a public hearing immediately or to have staff clean up the draft first; the consensus was to allow staff to make the administrative changes and return a final draft in October for review, after which a public hearing would be scheduled.
Board members asked about enforcement issues raised by tiny homes and noncompliant ‘‘shed homes.— Staff said state building code does not permit certain structures to be used as dwellings without meeting code and that the county regularly directs owners to modify structures or seek engineering approvals to meet standards.
No adoption vote was taken; staff will prepare a revised draft for the October meeting and include the legal corrections before scheduling a public hearing.
