The Crawford County Board of Commissioners approved a broad consent agenda Dec. 24 covering reappointments, vendor payments, contract renewals, grant applications and personnel actions.
Key approvals at a glance: reappointments of Ross C. Phelps, Mary Ann Houston and Joe Withy to the Crawford County Industrial Development Authority; reappointment of Robin Coxon to the Solid Waste Authority Board; designation of Brenda Schmidt as county recycling coordinator and authorization to apply for the Section 903 County Recycling Coordinator grant for 2026. The board also ratified multiple vendor payments and unbudgeted invoices, including payments to Northstar Rentals and several small equipment and repair invoices.
Contracts and purchases: The board approved renewal of an annual maintenance agreement with Mobilecom at $5,600 per month (total $67,200), awarded camera and license purchases for the correctional facility (ExactVizion PTZ cameras, $4,590), and approved a contract with the Center for Community Resources for interim crisis services from Nov. 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The county also ratified payments tied to construction and maintenance projects, including a partial county share on county bridge work and a notice to proceed for utilities on County Bridge 21.
Personnel actions and retirements: Commissioners ratified emergency per-diem correctional hires (Allen Edwards and Seth Bish Hazelhurst) at $17 per hour, approved several retirements and retirement vests for long-serving staff (including Christine Kraziak and Beth Forbes as reported in the packet) and approved new hires listed in the meeting packet.
Why it matters: Although most items were routine, the approvals keep county operations funded and maintain continuity of services — from emergency corrections staffing to human services contracts and small capital projects. The recycling-coordinator designation also clears the way for an expected grant application to support county recycling efforts.
What remained procedural: Nearly all consent items passed with routine roll-call votes; no contested votes or formal public hearings on these items were recorded in the transcript.
Next steps: Staff will proceed to execute the approved contracts, submit the recycling grant application, process retirements and hire paperwork, and publish the approved consent agenda records.
