Comptroller: sales-tax revenue up slightly; ARPA and bond payments reported

Comptroller Gallagher updated the committee on county revenues and spending on Dec. 11, reporting year-to-date sales-tax revenue of roughly $151.3 million, a 1.33% increase (about $2 million) over the same period last year. She said the county has made scheduled bond-principal and interest payments and paid bond-anticipation principal and interest for notes dated November 2024.
Gallagher reported investment earnings of about $7.6 million year to date and said recorded occupancy tax receipts had passed the budgeted target. She noted no additional cannabis revenue had been received since the November report. On ARPA funds, the controller said about $5 million–$6 million remained unspent and that staff are working with the chair and finance commissioner to move outstanding projects forward. Gallagher also described steps to expand transparency on a vendor dashboard by adding welfare-management-system payments while shielding individual beneficiary names.
Committee members thanked the comptroller for the update and indicated they would continue review of capital and ARPA-related items.
