Adams County moves forward on airport plan; SkyWest representatives expected in December

Adams County supervisors approved contracts to advance airport marketing and security planning and set tentative dates for an airline announcement and a SkyWest visit.
County staff presented a marketing-support package (about $12,500) and community-presentation allowance and said an ASP (airport security program) plan to support TSA requirements would cost about $60,000 to complete. “With legal approval, can we sign that agreement? This is probably one of the most important things with getting the airport,” staff (speaker 3) said, adding that the ASP plan helps move the airport permitting and TSA acceptance forward.
Staff also said representatives from SkyWest would be on site for a planned announcement in early to mid-December; the county is negotiating project timelines and RFQ processes for engineering and planning services. Board members approved moving ahead with the consultant contracts and directed staff to coordinate further details and public notice for the expected SkyWest event.
What’s next: staff said they will finalize consultant scopes, sign agreements subject to legal review and confirm the SkyWest visit and the official announcement date.
