Erath County files October financial reports, pays invoices and lifts burn ban

At its Nov. 24 session, the Erath County Commissioners Court handled several routine administrative items, including financial reporting, bill payments, a donation acceptance, roadwork permissions and removal of a county burn ban.
Treasurer Ms. Schaub presented October financials: receipts of $1,901,126.66, disbursements of $3,288,499.67 and cash invested of $24,172,942.99, bringing total cash and invested assets to $36,308,044.86. She also summarized pooled investments and reported average rates of about 4.2–4.3%.
The county auditor presented three packets of invoices totaling $398,531.26; the court voted to pay the bills. Commissioners also approved a request to allow Thomas Bull to travel out of state to Arizona with the livestock judging team.
Other approvals included allowing Precinct 1 to use private property off County Road 223 to move dirt and widen the roadway; permitting Precinct 2 to clear fence rows, open drainage and remove dead trees on County Road 336; and accepting a donated fume hood valued at $2,900 from Nancy Wilson for the sheriff’s office.
Fire personnel briefed the court on recent rain and low fire conditions; after discussion the court voted to remove the burn ban. The court had no budget adjustments and no items requiring executive session.
