Erath County awards hosted VoIP and endpoint-protection contract to incumbent Vibe

Erath County Commissioners Court on Nov. 24 approved awarding the county’s hosted VoIP service and advanced endpoint-protection contract to Vibe following a staff review of five proposals.
An IT presenter, Colby, told the court five submissions were received; two were set aside for missing requested specifications and another was set aside for not including support in its pricing. Colby said the remaining finalist did not provide comprehensive cybersecurity and data-management services and relied on a third-party subcontractor; he recommended staying with the incumbent, Vibe, which offers hosted phone service plus the county’s chosen cybersecurity solution.
Commissioners asked whether handset counts or locations would change pricing; Colby said the submitted price would not change for service but physical handset quantities could be adjusted. The court approved a motion to award the RFP to Vibe; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Buck and passed by voice vote.
The court did not discuss contract length or dollar amounts at the meeting; staff indicated Vibe is the county’s current vendor and recommended continuity to preserve the cybersecurity services already in use.
