The county engineer reported that grading on 99th was complete and that county crews were placing a temporary surface "this morning," but Martin Construction was unable to complete topsoil after last Tuesday's snow. Engineering proposed suspending the project and granting the contractor 11 additional days to finish in spring. Commissioner (Speaker 6) moved to suspend the project; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
On construction payments, the county presented pay estimate number 6 for work on 10th Avenue, 113th Avenue and 7th Street, totaling $337,356.30 payable to Bronco Brothers Construction. A motion to approve the payment passed after roll-call affirmation by commissioners.
Staff also outlined upcoming design and bid milestones: a paving-phase bid opening is scheduled for the next meeting on the 17th and construction for identified projects is anticipated in 2026. Engineering recommended packaging waterline work in coming projects to allow a year of settlement before paving to reduce the risk of asphalt failure.
Next steps: suspended work will resume in spring under the adjusted schedule; staff will proceed with advertised bid dates and bring additional procurement items back to the commission as required.
