Randolph County commits local funds for bridge projects and Community Crossings applications

He presented an estimated county local share of roughly $345,821 and asked the commissioners to approve a letter of financial commitment for that local share to accompany the grant applications.
Commissioners approved the commitment letter by voice vote. They separately approved a change to provide bridge funding on a year-by-year basis after council gave preliminary approval to additional bridge funds; the board set the county’s contribution for the current year at $600,000.
Why it matters: if the Community Crossing grant applications are successful, the federal/state-local partnership could stretch county dollars farther and deliver immediate bridge repairs and road resurfacing to county corridors.
