The RSU 10 board reviewed and amended a previously authorized use of capital improvement reserve funds for septic repairs at Hartford/Silvera Farms.
Unidentified Administrator (Speaker 4) explained that initial repair estimates were below the previously designated $20,000 authorization, but excavation on Dec. 1 revealed a previously installed lower tank that requires replacement. Two estimates were recorded in the meeting: Stevens Electric & Pump Service at $4,520 and a revised RNA estimate at $18,007.50. The component amounts add to $22,527.50 in the record.
Speaker 4 recommended rounding the revised authorization to $25,000 to allow contingency. Board President (Speaker 1) moved to amend the authorization to "not more than $25,000." The amendment was discussed and approved by voice vote.
Board members and facilities staff explained the technical reason for the increased cost: an older, rectangular buried tank was discovered beneath a later-installed round tank, requiring removal of the old structure and installation of a new full cylinder tank to reach proper capacity.
The board recorded the approval of the amended not-to-exceed amount; no roll-call vote tally with named voters appears in the transcript. The meeting noted the capital equipment reserve will cover the revised estimate.
