Agent presents $8,900 cash offer for 3.37-acre school board parcel; board asked to authorize closing signatory
Summary
A Century 21 agent presented an appraisal of $8,900 for a 3.37-acre tract and a written cash offer for $8,900 from an interested buyer; the agent requested a resolution authorizing the superintendent to sign closing documents if the board approves.
Janice Bolton of Century 21 Bulow Miller presented an appraisal dated Oct. 30, 2023, valuing a 3.37-acre tract owned by the district at $8,900 and reported she had received a written cash offer for $8,900 from a buyer identified as Austin Townsend. “I have the appraisal by Michelle Jordan dated 10/30/2023 for $8,900,” Bolton told the board and said the buyer’s written offer would expire Dec. 9 with a proposed closing date of Dec. 12.
Bolton described the tract as timberland without utilities and with limited accessibility (access via Highway 156 and Joe Conley Road). She said the buyer planned to purchase through an LLC and requested a resolution authorizing the superintendent to sign closing documents on the district’s behalf to expedite closing if the board accepts the offer.
Board members confirmed the district would retain mineral rights. No final vote was recorded on the sale during the meeting; Bolton asked whether she needed to return on Dec. 9, and board members indicated staff could handle the interim paperwork and bring a resolution forward for formal consideration.
The board left the matter open for formal action at a future meeting and requested staff draft the necessary resolution if the board wishes to proceed.
