That online resource would let staff filter parcels by utility connectivity and other constraints.
Commissioners and speakers discussed financing pathways, including the federal Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization grants and U.S. EPA Brownfields funding as potential means to cover infrastructure costs. Commission members debated whether the county should route efforts through the Land Reuse Authority (LRA); some said the LRA could hold and market property and has broader purchasing authority, while others said using the county directly might permit more diverse uses.
