The Omaha City Council voted unanimously to advance a multi-part redevelopment that will bring a replacement YMCA and a new stadium to the Omaha North High School campus.

New Street Properties representatives described a public-private collaboration with Omaha Public Schools and the YMCA. The developer said the project requires minimal direct city funding and noted private support from foundations; the transcript identifies philanthropic partners (described as the Legere Foundation and other private funders) as primary backers.

Architects and project staff described the stadium program and logistics: visiting seating is roughly 1,500 and home seating about 3,500; parking will rely on a shared-use agreement with the high school’s existing lot and an adjacent elementary-school parcel owned by Omaha Public Schools; and students will be involved through internships, job-shadowing and other educational partnerships. Project leadership said they need to finalize easements with the city and are aiming for the stadium’s first game in 2027 if permitting and easement work proceed on schedule. "All goes well, 2027 is the goal for first game to be played at the new stadium," Rob Blumenthal said.

Councilmembers praised the public-private partnership and the emphasis on student involvement; several members noted personal ties to the school. The council approved the related rezoning, plat and subdivision agreement items by roll call with a recorded 5–0 vote.

What happens next: Developers will finalize required easements and continue coordination with Omaha Public Works. The project team said more detailed renderings and timeline updates will be provided as easements and contracts are finalized.
