County approves routine permits and nonprofit vehicle tax exemptions; receives sheriff fee report

At its Nov. 24 meeting, the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners approved several routine administrative items.
The board authorized the chair to sign a right-of-way application from Encore for a waterline crossing near Somerset; the roads department raised no objections and an application fee of $201.98 was attached. The board also authorized a right-of-way application from CenturyLink/Lumen for a short fiber installation from Highway 83 down North Lake Road to a FedEx facility; a check for the permit fees (transcript lists $344 and $80.85) was attached and staff discussed as-built submittal timing.
As part of its financial items, the board received a sheriff fee report submitted in the amount of $2,332.20 and entered it by motion. During the Board of Equalization session, the board approved multiple motor vehicle tax-exemption Form 457 applications recommended by County Treasurer Sherry Newton, including vehicles used by the Community Action Partnership of Nebraska, the Salvation Army and the American National Red Cross for charitable purposes and blood drives.
Each item was moved, seconded and approved by roll call; commissioners asked staff to tighten as-built submittal timelines for utility permits and noted standard follow-up steps for nonprofit exemption paperwork.
