Commissioners discussed recent conversations with the property owner, Jerry Viera, who indicated he would be “very comfortable” if the county vacated the property back to him and allowed him to maintain it as a driveway. Commissioners and staff said a study would reveal whether municipal annexation or other factors affect the process; the attorney advised that a public hearing is required if the board chooses to pursue a vacation.
The board moved, seconded and adopted Resolution 2025-32 by roll call. The county highway superintendent was directed to perform the study and report back to the board. No final decision to vacate the road was made; the resolution only initiates the statutorily required study and subsequent steps.
