Resident seeks county blessing to open section-line road for farm access; county says it will not maintain

The resident said some work (a draw crossing and fence adjustments) would be required and that neighboring landowners were supportive.
Commission staff and a commissioner advised that section-line roads remain public but the county does not normally improve or maintain section-line roads and would not provide routine maintenance such as snow removal or grading. "The county's not doing anything and ... we're not gonna maintain," a county official said. The resident was advised to coordinate the plan with the tribal council and affected landowners and to take responsibility for construction and maintenance; commissioners recommended pursuing tribal blessing and landowner agreements before any work begins.
No formal motion was made; the board offered informal guidance and encouraged the resident to secure tribal and neighboring landowner concurrence and to return with any required permits or documentation for a formal action if needed.
