Klamath County approves $1.69 million transient room tax distribution for third quarter

Klamath County's tax office reported third-quarter transient room tax (TRT) collections of $1,693,147.21 for the period ending Sept. 30, 2025, and the board voted Dec. 2 to approve distribution of the funds under the county's tax-revenue-sharing formula (Klamath County code 603.61).
Kayla Westphal (tax office) told commissioners collections were up roughly 20% from the same quarter last year. "I think the air show had something to do with that," Westphal said when discussing the year-over-year increase.
Commissioner moved, a second was recorded, and the motion to execute the order allowing the tax administrator to distribute the TRT funds passed by voice vote.
The distribution was recorded as an expenditure from the transient room tax fund in the amount reported; the board did not record additional fiscal adjustments during the meeting.
