Klamath County commissioners voted Dec. 2 to reject earlier bids and approve issuing a new invitation to bid (ITB) for complete demolition and hazardous-material abatement at the Klamath Hub.
Kayla Wessel of the county tax and property office told the board the original ITB was issued in July 2025 and closed in August, and that staff were directed at a Sept. 30 administrative meeting to clarify the project scope before restarting the procurement. "Property management has prepared a revised ITB and is requesting board approval to issue it on December 4," Wessel said.
Commissioner Minty moved to reject the prior bids and authorize issuance of a new ITB, including authorization for any subsequent addenda; a second was recorded and the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff identified a fiscal note for publication in the Herald and News paid with ARPA funds. The transcript includes inconsistent numeric phrasing: an early transcription shows an approximate figure of "246,080" followed immediately by a correction to "$246.84" for publication. The county's staff contact should be consulted for the authoritative publication cost; the board's motion and vote authorized the procurement action regardless of that transcription discrepancy.
The reissued ITB is intended to obtain contractors to perform hazardous-material abatement and full demolition of the Hub. No contract award was made Dec. 2; the board's action restarts the competitive procurement process.
Next steps: staff will publish the revised ITB and accept bids under the new procurement schedule, with future board action expected for any award recommendations.
