Commissioner French noted that the interim work likely saved both the county and the school system money and said "he saved the county $39,000 those 6 months." Commissioner Wells called $21,000 for six months "dirt cheap." Commissioners who spoke in favor described the payment as a reasonable way for the school system to reimburse the county for services it requested.
