Roane County commissioners unanimously confirmed Don Coffey to the Roane County Planning Commission and approved administrative corrections and reappointments to county boards during the Oct. 25 meeting.
In a special-called session immediately before the regular meeting, the commission opened nominations to fill a District 2 vacancy on the Roane County School Board created by Shane Best’s resignation. A commissioner nominated a citizen identified in the minutes, and commissioners voted to appoint the nominee by unanimous roll call.
Under special orders, the commission confirmed Don Coffey’s appointment to the planning commission (term to expire Oct. 20, 2029) and corrected the term expiration for Dennis Turpin on the Roane County Industrial Development Board, among other housekeeping actions. The clerk recorded each motion as carrying 15-0.
These confirmations and corrections were procedural and did not carry policy conditions; appointed members will be expected to attend future meetings and serve the terms described in the motions.
