Board recognizes utility employees for lifesaving aid and hears JROTC presentation

Richmond County supervisors opened the meeting by recognizing three Northern Neck Electric Cooperative employees for stopping to assist a motorist who suffered cardiac arrest on Nov. 5.
A memo read by a county official recounted that Mark Evans, Craig Loving and Martin Pinion rendered CPR, assisted with extrication and helped with traffic control until medical crews arrived. The memo said their actions "exemplify courage, compassion, and preparedness" and recommended a county citizen lifesaver award and a letter to Northern Neck Electric Cooperative. The board presented the award and invited the employees forward to receive it.
Later the board received a slideshow from members of the Rappahannock High School JROTC Raiders Battalion. Presenter Madison Sanders and First Sergeant Tillman described recent activities — raider competitions, archery, marksmanship and public appearances including televised events — and said the program is adding robotics and drone competitions this year. Tillman and others emphasized the program’s leadership and community-service benefits.
Board members praised the presentation and the utility workers’ actions and encouraged local support for youth programs and volunteerism.
