The foundation said one $10,000 grant to Second Harvest translated to roughly 40,000 meals for its service area. Foundation staff said they will match up to $40,000 in donated funds to make additional grants to smaller food banks in rural counties and pointed viewers to partnership resources at uwwt.org/food and the foundation’s giving page (cfwtn.org/hunger).
Speakers noted the urgency because of uncertainty around SNAP benefits and encouraged donations now so the foundation can distribute additional funds next week. The foundation also described its role as a connector for donors who may prefer to give to a single fund and have the foundation direct the dollars to smaller local providers.
