County staff: Route 2 lighting plans 90% complete; board urges prioritizing 2026 construction

County staff updated the Lake County Board on Dec. 11 that engineering plans for lighting improvements on Route 2 are nearly complete and that the county is working to secure funding.
"DNN is preparing the plans as we speak. They're 90% complete," a staff member reported, adding that ODOT had provided comments that are being incorporated into the final documents. The staff member said that if funds are in place the project could go to bid in early 2026 for construction in summer 2026.
A board member pressed for urgency, telling staff: "I want it done 2026 at the absolute latest." The chair said the county must prioritize the project and asked to be notified as soon as plans are returned so construction can be scheduled.
No formal vote or funding commitment was recorded at the workshop. Staff said the next step is completion of plans and finalizing the financing plan; a public update will be provided when the plans are complete.
