Bradford councilman Fred Cropper resigns; Mark Young appointed to council seat

Cropper thanked residents and colleagues and listed priorities he sees as immediate challenges for the city, including access to medical care, blight removal and affordable housing for working families. He also praised department staff and promised to remain available to help with projects such as a proposed new fire station.
Following Cropper’s statement, the council moved to accept his resignation. Cropper said he would abstain from the acceptance vote; the council proceeded with the form and recorded acceptance of the resignation.
The council then moved to appoint Mark Young to fill the vacancy (resolution 3161). Mark Young came forward and took the oath of office, repeating the oath aloud: "I solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth... and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity." Council members offered congratulations and welcome.
