Summary
With no public speakers, the board approved VDOT's request to abandon 0.08 miles of Route 57 and approved two rezoning applications: R-25-19 (Bittersweet LLC) for 0.6 acres to B-3 office/professional and R-25-20 (Joshua Blancas) for ~1.3 acres to limited industrial I-2; planning staff and commission recommended approval in each case.
The Henry County Board of Supervisors took three land-use actions Dec. 16 after hearing staff presentations and holding public hearings with no speakers.
VDOT asked the board to consider abandoning a discontinued 0.08-mile segment of Route 57 east of Stockton Road (Archwood District). The board opened and closed the public hearing with no comments, and Mr. Dillon moved to approve the abandonment; the motion carried with five in favor and one absent.
The board then considered rezoning request R-25-19 (Bittersweet LLC), a request to rezone approximately 0.6 acres at 812 Wagon Trail Road from suburban residential to office and professional (B-3) to allow uses such as a hair salon or consulting office. Planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval; the board approved the rezoning 5–1 absent.
The board also approved rezoning R-25-20 (Joshua Blancas) to rezone about 1.3 acres on Kings Mountain Road from Commercial B-1 to Limited Industrial I-2 for limited manufacturing and coffee roasting plus retail; planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval and the board approved the request 5–1 absent.
