ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. — The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors opened its Nov. 18 meeting with an award recognizing Deputy Joe Mullins for his work with the William Byrd Middle School Terrier Safety Squad and moved through routine business before recessing for work sessions and a closed session on economic development.
Deputy Joe Mullins accepted the recognition and described the Terrier Safety Squad as a student-led program that has grown to the school’s cap of 25 participants. "These awards reflect the creativity and commitment of our students," Mullins said, thanking the sheriff's office, school staff and co-sponsor counselor Leslie Jordan for support.
