Essex supervisors move into closed session for regional appointments and legal consultation; certify compliance on return

A supervisor moved that the board convene a closed meeting pursuant to the Code of Virginia to discuss appointment and appointment matters for the Middle Peninsula Public Access Authority, the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission and the CPMT, and for consultation with legal counsel regarding actual or probable litigation and specific legal matters involving real-estate agreements. The motion was seconded and the board voted in favor.
After the closed session, the board moved to return to open session and conducted a roll call. Each member verbally certified that only public business matters identified in the motion were discussed in the closed session. No supervisor stated a departure from the certification resolution.
Authorities referenced in the motion were recorded in the meeting as provisions of the Code of Virginia governing closed sessions; the board certified compliance with those provisions when it returned to open session.
