The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors presented and adopted a resolution of appreciation on Nov. 3 honoring Mary Catherine (‘‘MK’’) Ishee, a longtime Planning Commission member and local advocate who died July 13, 2025. The board read the resolution into the record and agreed to spread it across the minutes as a formal acknowledgment of her service.
Public tributes preceded the resolution: multiple residents and board members described Ishee as an ‘‘ardent and devoted citizen’’ who used her legal training and planning knowledge to preserve the county’s rural character and who led or volunteered with local nonprofits, including RAP at Home and Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection. Citizens urged the board to consider dedicating the next revision of the comprehensive plan to her memory.
The board adopted the resolution without recorded dissent. Family members were present at the meeting when the resolution was read.
