Kosciusko Economic Development Organization representatives briefed county commissioners on 2025 accomplishments and secured approval to apply for regional predevelopment funds.
A KEDCO speaker summarized the year's work in business attraction, workforce development and housing, saying the organization helped attract projects that represent nearly 2,500 jobs and supported private investment in advanced manufacturing and mobility sectors. "These projects represent significant capital investment, job creation and retention, and long term tax based growth," the speaker said.
KEDCO requested that the county sign Resolution No. 25-12-23-001 to allow an application for $595,169.17 in funds through the Northeast Indiana Strategic Development Commission to support predevelopment assistance as local match for housing projects in small communities. The presenter said the funds allocated to Kosciusko County were calculated by population and that some funds were also available to cities in the region.
Commissioners approved the resolution by voice vote and discussed the county's role in encumbering special project dollars and matching Horry (sic) funding for small-community housing efforts. County leaders emphasized the need to pair job growth with workforce housing and training for local residents to fill new positions.
Next steps: the county will execute the resolution and KEDCO will proceed with the grant application and local matching arrangements.
