County staff updated the Board of Supervisors on the status of the FY25 audit on Dec. 9, saying preliminary results should be available in January and the final report is targeted for March.
An unidentified staff member who briefed the board said the county’s auditors have reviewed much of the material and that most work is progressing on schedule, but one item remains outstanding: the schools’ annual report. “The only thing that’s still outstanding is the school report,” the staff member said.
The staff member said the county has completed work requested under GASB for compensated absences (referred to in the discussion as GASB 101) and that the team met recently with auditors from UHY and with partner Louis Wise. The staff said ClearPoint requested additional historical data going back to fiscal years 2023–25, which lengthened the data collection process for some items.
Supervisors pressed for timing and scope. One supervisor noted there is a chance the final issuance could be delayed depending on findings from concurrent forensic-audit activity; the staff replied preliminaries should arrive in January but acknowledged forensic work could push the March timeline.
Board members asked whether auditors will present their findings in a public meeting. Staff said the auditor’s presentation will be scheduled in line with the county budget calendar and that the office is aiming to avoid extending the audit past March.
Next steps: staff will provide the preliminary results to the board when available in January and coordinate scheduling for an auditor presentation around the budget calendar. The board did not take formal action on the audit update at the work session.
