Storey County commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with the Story County School District to provide seasonal school bus parking on county property near the historic train depot while the district completes construction of a new school.
County Manager Austin Osborne said the agreement allows parking between November and April on roughly 5,000–5,500 square feet for approximately 18 months, with an option to extend up to an additional 24 months at no charge. The district may place temporary related items (fencing, outhouse, security) subject to historic‑district review if structures are proposed.
Vice Chairman and other commissioners asked about fencing, historic‑district compatibility and how tourism events would be managed; staff said the superintendent and public works will coordinate use and any needed temporary fencing.
The board approved the interlocal agreement unanimously.
