The presenter said the program is aimed at high‑school seniors who want practical experience in event planning, interviews and leadership; staff intend to recruit from Marion, Chilhowie and Saltville and will allow homeschool applicants. “It’s gonna be about $2,000 from supplemental, and it will be split between the 3 of them,” the presenter said, explaining the funds will seed student event costs.
Applications were planned to be posted publicly and a social‑media post was scheduled the following Monday; staff asked supervisors to help by providing references and sharing flyers with schools and teachers. Supervisors endorsed the program and suggested outreach through high‑school government teachers and principals.
Board action consisted of receiving the program presentation and supporting the recruitment timeline; staff will proceed with posting and application processing.
