The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors voted Dec. 16 to adopt a resolution supporting the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation’s 'Blue Ridge Rising' strategic plan.
Deputy County Administrator Doug Blunt said the foundation is a nonprofit partner that helps with cross‑jurisdictional coordination, regional marketing and economic development in gateway communities. The proposed resolution asked Roanoke County to support marketing the Roanoke region along the Parkway, help coordinate regional events such as races that connect to Explorer Park, and support repairs and maintenance so the Parkway motor road remains in good operating condition. Staff told the board there were no fiscal impacts associated with adopting the resolution and recommended approval.
After brief questions from members, the board adopted the resolution on a recorded vote.
