County staff and an Air Evac representative presented a proposed lease on Nov. 10 for Air Evac to station a 24‑hour helicopter ambulance at the industrial park hangar behind the fire station.
An Air Evac representative said the company would resume a presence similar to past operations and that fuel sales at the airport would be preserved. "This is a win win for this community," the representative said, adding that the company expects to move a mobile home unit into the site in December to support on‑site personnel.
Staff told the commission the county bears no financial obligation under the lease as presented and that work on the site would begin immediately to accommodate the leaseholder. Commissioners agreed to move the lease item to the regular meeting for a formal vote after staff confirms final terms.
No formal approval or executed contract was recorded during the work session.
