Commission seeks final MOU and plans before approving industrial‑park water connection

The Ware County Board of Commissioners revisited a multi‑year proposal to connect the industrial park to city water at the Nov. 10 work session. County staff said updated engineering plans and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) remain outstanding and recommended the commission defer final approval until the MOU and final plans are received and reviewed by county counsel.
An ESG Engineering representative (Charlie Bridges) told the commission the city attorney is finalizing MOU language. He said expected provisions would require the city to repair county roads at its expense if there is damage from the utility line and to pay for relocation if the utility must move to accommodate future road widening. "That will be done at the city's expense as well," the representative said when describing typical DOT/utility permit language.
Commissioners asked specific questions about the proposed route and noted staff would bore under driveways and streets where appropriate. Staff proposed a town‑hall meeting with residents along the route and the selected contractor after the county and city select a contractor and complete the MOU. Commissioners agreed to place the MOU back on the agenda for a vote once their attorneys have approved the final language.
