Planning staff (Nathan) said most 2026 meetings will remain on the standard third Wednesday, but June will be bumped to the fourth Wednesday because of a conflict with Turtle Days and Old Settlers. Staff also proposed canceling the March 30 joint training for the board and related bodies, and noted that other meetings in June, August and November were arranged with similar considerations. Commissioners were asked whether to approve formally or by consensus; a motion and second were recorded and roll call showed affirmative votes.
In administrative remarks, staff noted that Commissioner Brent Emmerich was absent because he was caring for a newborn ('baby Ike'), and one commissioner said their term is expiring but they are willing to be reappointed. Staff said appointments are typically made in November or December by the appointing commissioners and that, unless filings appear, the planning commission is unlikely to meet in December. The calendar change will be reflected in published schedules and in staff notices to applicants.
