Stark County Council approves routine transfers, corrects coroner stipend and sets 2026 meeting dates

Council members authorized a $3,500 transfer from capital funds to repair leaking sprinkler standpipes in a county building, citing the work as a capital improvement for fire and security systems. An unidentified council member moved the measure and it passed by voice vote.
The council corrected a clerical error in the proposed 2026 salary ordinance to set the coroner deputy on‑call stipend at $2 per hour, matching the auditor’s written request; members said the $3 figure in the draft was a typo and approved the $2 figure by motion.
Council also approved "Additional Appropriation Ordinance No. 35," a $1,000 EMA salary appropriation that had been discussed at the previous meeting, and "Ordinance No. 36," a set of transfers including a $40,000 reduction in a full‑time staff account with $10,000 moved to ambulance supplies and $30,000 to software for EMS operations.
Minutes for the Nov. 6 and Nov. 17 meetings were approved. A clerical note was raised that an incorrect signature nameplate remained on Ordinance No. 36; members discussed correcting the document and signature processes.
On scheduling, the council voted to keep meetings at 6:00 p.m. in the council room on the third Monday of each month for 2026. The January meeting was moved to Jan. 21 and the February meeting to Feb. 18 to avoid holiday conflicts, per the motion carried at the meeting.
The meeting adjourned after the council completed its business and reconvened the public hearing on the CF‑1 matter.
