The joint Richland Township–Ellettsville reorganization committee voted to meet every two weeks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays starting Jan. 7, and approved a public‑comment policy that permits five minutes per speaker at both the opening and closing of meetings.
Committee members debated schedule options to avoid conflicts with Plan Commission and BZA meetings before putting the cadence to a roll‑call-style vote. The committee recorded affirmative votes from members who identified themselves during the roll call: Mike Cordon, Andrew Henry, Kevin Farris, William Ellis, Dawn Bernal and Scott Reynolds. The meeting schedule was later restated and amended at a subsequent motion to confirm the every‑other‑Wednesday cycle and the Jan. 7 start date.
On public comment, committee member Andrew Henry moved to require public comment at every meeting with a five‑minute limit per speaker; Dawn Bernal seconded that motion and it passed. The committee later amended the rule to allow public comment both at the beginning and at the end of each meeting, while preserving the five‑minute limit and giving the board discretion to request public comment at other times.
The committee also assigned a volunteer point of contact to draft and circulate agendas to members before official posting; the group agreed minutes will be distributed to members for review and approved at the following meeting. Town and township staff agreed to assist with posting notices on the official town/township posting outlets and to explore secure, official email addresses for committee business.
The committee emphasized flexibility: members may adjust meeting frequency or the public‑comment format if attendance or workload requires it. The next meeting is scheduled to follow the newly adopted every‑two‑week cadence beginning Jan. 7 at 6:00 p.m.
