Staff outlined two options: five classes for $1,750 or seven classes (to include Westfield) for $2,450. "She's proposing this is Amanda at Golden Sands — 5 for $1,750, or to include Westfield again because they didn't get them last year it'd be 7 total for $2,450," staff said. A motion to approve the groundwater education class for the full $2,450 package was made and seconded; the committee approved the payment from the tree‑sale account by voice vote.
The program targets fifth‑grade students and is intended as a low‑cost, in‑school outreach option (staff said Golden Sands charges about $3.50 per class where possible to reduce cost through travel efficiencies). Committee members discussed which schools would be included and confirmed that Montello and Westfield students would be eligible under the chosen option.
Staff noted the MFE (nutrient management farmer education) reimbursements and other grant flows appear separately in expense reports; the groundwater education expense will be charged to the tree‑sale account as approved.
