Bedford County commissioners say district attorney sued to block temporary hiring freeze

"The Bedford County District Attorney was not willing to cooperate with a temporary hiring freeze...but instead has unfortunately decided to sue the county commissioners."
Speaker 1 said the county had received only about one-third of approximately $3,000,000 expected from the Commonwealth for 2025 and that the freeze was intended to avoid drastic spending cuts, employee-benefit reductions or layoffs. Because litigation is pending, the commissioners said they would have no further comment.
