During a public hearing Dec. 16, county engineers presented plans to improve an open ditch (Gluaded Run lateral No. 5 extension) intended to provide a stable drainage outlet for a golf course and adjacent warehouses.
Engineers said the work will not primarily improve agricultural drainage but will protect stormwater outlets for commercial properties and the golf course, and they recommended placing the improved ditch on county maintenance. Staff said the project estimate was slightly higher than a previous estimate but still considered a good price and that, because the work falls below the county bid threshold, they would solicit at least three informal quotes and proceed under county procurement policy.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the recommendation during the hearing. Staff said they will draft and bring a resolution for signature next week and will finalize contractor selection following the quote process.
The measure passed by roll call with no recorded opposition.
