Ross County commissioners approved the weekly bills of $1,024,156.12 and a suite of transfers and appropriations during their meeting. The agenda included grant-related line items — roughly $107,000 tied to a juvenile program grant and about $101,000 for engineering work — that contributed to the total amount presented.
Commissioners also approved smaller, departmental transfers: a $1,597.89 transfer in the probation general fund for body armor and operating supplies; a $45,000 internal reallocation at the sheriff’s office moving funds into food supplies; and auditor office transfers, including $5,297.38 to cover real-estate assessment expenses and $12,756.36 to cover group insurance payments. An appropriation of $25,000 from cancelled 2024 obligations was authorized for 2025 obligations, and the planning department was allowed to move forward with a $500,000 development line item tied to ongoing projects.
The board confirmed the appointment of James Gardner to the library board of trustees after a motion and second by commissioners. Other procedural items approved by voice vote included an amendment to an architectural agreement for the Longboat Theater Project (a $7,907.30 credit to the project owner) and administrative costs tied to an Ohio Water Pollution Control loan (about $1,927.08).
Speakers noted that many of the transfers and appropriations were routine and the approvals were taken by voice vote. No roll-call tallies were recorded on the meeting transcript for these items; minutes indicate motions were seconded and approved by unanimous voice consent.
The board scheduled follow-up work on a set of planning and infrastructure projects, including funding referenced for a local water project, and directed staff to continue preparing supporting documentation for future agenda items.
