The Hudson County Board of County Commissioners on July 24 adopted a resolution honoring Marcy DeFea McClary on her retirement after 37 years with the County Law Department.
Commissioner Romano read the resolution, which notes McClary began her county career on August 1, 1988, held roles including clerk typist and legal assistant, and later served as secretary to the director of law. Colleagues described McClary as professional, calm and a steadying presence in county government.
Several commissioners rose to pay tribute before the board's unanimous recorded vote to adopt the resolution. McClary addressed the board, thanked county administration and co-workers, and said she plans to spend more time with family and to “relax,” while remaining nearby.
The resolution takes effect immediately and the board invited McClary to join them for a presentation photo following the meeting.
