Andrea Greer of Onslow County Park and Recreation described an inaugural "Seniors and S'mores" event meant to give high-school seniors across Onslow County a midyear celebration before graduation. Greer said the event is open to all seniors in the county and will be held Jan. 31 at Onslow Pines Park, with activities beginning at 5 p.m. and a movie (the original "Jumanji") shown on a big screen at 9 p.m.

Greer said registration is available at onslowrecdesk.com or by phone at (910) 347-5332 and that staff will not turn seniors away if they cannot register. The event is described as free, open and intended as a safe, low-key gathering for reflection and celebration ahead of graduation.

Park and Recreation officials encouraged families to register early but emphasized that the event is open to all county seniors.
