Committee approves $85,000 cleaning contract for county buildings

A Shelby County committee approved a resolution to contract with A and J True Touch Cleaning Services LLC to provide carpet, vinyl and VCT floor maintenance for county buildings on an as-requested basis, not to exceed $85,000 through June 30, 2026, with options to renew for two additional one-year periods.
Nicole Austin, Administrative Support Services, told commissioners the county ran a competitive solicitation in which 44 vendors were notified, three responded and one was deemed nonresponsive. "We went with A and J True Touch," Austin said, adding the vendor has provided services before and met LOSB participation requirements "at 100% because they're doing it themselves." Commissioner Sugarman asked and Austin confirmed the vendor is local.
The item was moved, seconded and received aye votes from Commissioners Sugarman, Wright and Bradford, after which the committee recorded a favorable recommendation.
