A Shelby County committee voted to recommend approval of a third-reading ordinance authorizing the Shelby County Fire Department to provide emergency ambulance services in the cities of Millington and Lakeland and the town of Arlington.
Vice Chairman David C. Bradford Jr., who sponsored the ordinance, presented the item to the committee and the chair moved it for consideration. Fire Chief Benson told commissioners the ordinance “allows us to go into contract with these municipalities to provide ambulance service.” After no additional discussion, the chair called the vote and staff reported aye votes from Commissioners Sugarman, Wright and Bradford.
The committee recorded a favorable recommendation and forwarded the measure for the next step in the county’s legislative process. No ordinance number or additional contract details were read into the record during the committee discussion.
