The Story County Board of Supervisors reorganized its leadership on Jan. 2, electing Linda Mirkin as chair and Latifa Bridal as vice chair for 2026 and setting the board's regular meeting schedule. An unidentified supervisor moved the nomination of Linda Mirkin as chair; Mirkin accepted the nomination and the board approved the election by voice vote.
The board then moved to elect Latifa Bridal as vice chair for 2026. Bridal accepted the role and the motion passed with affirmative votes from members present.
The supervisors also set the 2026 regular meeting schedule for Tuesdays at 10 a.m., with the option to modify the schedule as necessary. The motion to adopt the schedule was moved and seconded and approved by the same voice-vote process used for other organizational items.
Board members also adopted a formal definition of a "limited agenda," which the board defined to exclude public hearings, additional items and agency or department reports unless the chair exercises discretion to allow exceptions. The measure was moved, seconded and approved.
These organizational actions were completed early in the meeting and followed by routine business, including approval of previous meeting minutes and a multi-item consent agenda.
