Trustees took time in the meeting to recognize student and teacher achievements across the district. The board announced the December Elementary Student of the Month, Torian Holland, a second grader at Jones Elementary, and the Secondary Student of the Month, Emiliano Rosales, an eighth grader at Bolter Middle School. Both students were invited forward and the board played a video highlighting their accomplishments.
Board presentation materials and remarks celebrated several student artists whose work was chosen for the district’s holiday cards and for an ornament on display at the Texas Capitol. The presenters named multiple student contributors from Tyler High School, Tyler Legacy High School and 3 Lakes Middle School and invited those present to come forward for photos.
The board also honored Maggie Thompson, named elementary District Teacher of the Month from Ramey Elementary School, and Christina Coles, secondary District Teacher of the Month from 3 Lakes Middle School. Principals offered brief remarks about each teacher’s classroom practice and impact on students.
The recognition segment concluded with trustees inviting recipients to the front for awards and photos.
