The Las Vegas Recommending Committee on Jan. 5 approved Bill 2025-41, a municipal code amendment that updates local business-licensing definitions to reference state law. Committee members voted to adopt language that will link the city’s definitions for Transportation Network Company and reflexology directly to the corresponding Nevada Revised Statutes.
Community Development Director Seth Floyd told the committee the change is "very straightforward," saying it "adds a reference" so the city’s code will automatically track any future state changes. Floyd read the state-law definition aloud and said the approach avoids repeated local amendments.
During a question-and-answer exchange, an unidentified committee member asked whether the TNC definition would cover autonomous (driverless) vehicles. Floyd initially said it would not, then corrected himself on the record to say the state’s addition "does include the ... autonomous vehicles," and noted staff is drafting a separate ordinance with more detailed language for autonomous and delivery platforms.
There were no public speakers. After the brief discussion the committee moved and approved the ordinance to amend the Las Vegas Municipal Code.
